Winifred & Mofesomo’s love grew from a conversation | #WIFE17

Mofesomo and Winifred‘s love story grew organically, they met in 2006 but didn’t click until 2014. Read their love story and view photos from their white wedding below;

How we met (by the groom, Mofe)

Our love story is one that took quite a few years to form, even though, as the story formed, we both had no idea of what the future held for us. We met innocuously in A level school in the year 2006 while we were both studying.

The funny thing about that period was that in the entire year that we both spent studying there, we probably had a maximum of two or three short conversations which, honestly, weren’t at all memorable. During our University years, we kept in touch from time to time and had sporadic bursts of sustained conversations, mainly on the telephone and through other mediums like Facebook and BBM, although we never really spoke about anything serious.

Fast forward to late 2014 and I remember that during the December period we met up once at 355 Lounge in Lagos and although it was a meet up that we hurriedly planned and which turned out to be brief, something about Winifred struck a chord with me that night. The conversation that night was flawless and interesting and in addition, I just couldn’t take my eyes off her even for a second.

For me, it was extremely strange because I had known and met her several times over the many years prior to that date. As far as I was concerned, it was nothing and knowing myself, I knew I was going to forget about it just as quickly as it came to me. As expected, I got over it and moved on, or so I thought.

In late January 2015, Winifred moved to the UK and I figured that our tried and trusted system of sporadic communications would continue, and it did. However, I did not forget our December hangout at 355 and sometime in the middle of 2015, I found myself talking to her more and more on the phone.

The regularity, length and depth of our conversations grew exponentially to the point that we started speaking several times a day, even as we were on separate continents. I thought to myself that I didn’t want this to end and in September 2015, when Winnie moved back to Lagos, I got to work on her and was determined that she had to be my girlfriend.

I was very confident that I was going to be able to get this to happen rather quickly, as we had spent the last few months talking a lot. Eventually, on 21st December 2015 Winnie agreed to be my girlfriend.

Shortly afterwards, I travelled on holiday and while on holiday I reflected on my thoughts of Winnie and our relationship. At this point, I knew deep down that I wasn’t going to let her go anywhere and I had found my missing rib.

I prayed about it. I came back to Lagos in January 2016 and for the rest of the year, Winnie and I had a wonderful relationship. Although we had our ups and downs along the way, never for once did I think it was ever possible again for me to carry on in life without her. With this in mind, on 25th December 2016, I got my most valuable Christmas present so far – Winifred agreed to marry me and spend the rest of her life with me. The rest, as they say, is history
