How They Met/Proposal
I met my friend, lover and husband Seun Ajibola Baker on the 24th of June 2009 at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) whilst I was in my final year. Seun came with a friend of mine to visit but I was not in the mood for company because my boyfriend then, choose to spend his birthday with his friends instead of me. Seun in his gentle and understanding way did not mind my rudeness and asked if he could come back to meet me formally, and I told him it was okay to get him off my back.
Seun came the next day but he didn’t just come to meet me formally! He came so we could go out on a date! I couldn’t say no because he was so sweet (and he is still very sweet and adorable)! We had such a lovely time and it felt like déjàvu because I remember telling him that everything we did was familiar, like we had done it before.
Well, Seun knew what he wanted so he came back the next day and asked to go out on another date. Unfortunately I did not want to lead him on so I told him that I had a boyfriend and I couldn’t go out with him anymore. He was very matured about it and asked if we could be friends, sort of like a consolation prize! And that day started a beautiful friendship between Seun and me, sharing happy times together and taking advantage of Starcomms free call praying together over the phone every night!
Seun was my friend for two years; we dated for a year, went back to being friends and then back to being lovers in 2013. And in 2014, he popped the big question, “Will you marry me”? There was no way I would have said no to my friend, lover and husband. I said YES! And as they say, the rest is history!
