Naj & Alphonse’s destination wedding in Dubai was perfect | Save the Date

Enajero (Naj) & Alphonse met in Dubai a few years prior to their decision to tie the knot. They agreed that Dubai should be the place where they will have their destination wedding, as It was the place where they first met, plus it would have been an ideal destination between Nigeria, Cameroon, and the UK where the guests were flying in from.

As soon as we met the couple on our trip to Dubai, we knew we were going to love their wedding. It had everything we love – illustrations, a stunning venue, an outdoor wedding reception and more.

We caught up with their Dubai wedding planner, Olga from Dubai based wedding planning company, Save The Date, who talked us through the couple’s wedding planning process.

In August, Naj interviewed a few local wedding planners, and our personalities matched in an instant and SaveThe Date were appointed to plan this destination wedding.  She was able to come to Dubai to choose a wedding venue. We came up with few selections and after touring half of Dubai for a few days, she admitted that her heart was still with the very first venue – Four Seasons Resort Jumeirah.

As soon as the venue was chosen we started planning for the next six months, exploring different options & ideas. A lot of questions and options to consider; A band or a DJ, soul vs commercial, piano or saxophone, invitations style, color scheme and so on.

The invites

First, we designed illustrated save the date e-cards, where the couple revealed the destination, but not the venue. Few months later, we sent out printed invitations to all the guests. They consisted of laser-cut cover which repeated the pattern of the main door of the hotel and the card itself.

All the guests arrived Dubai a few days before the wedding and in order to keep them entertained, a lovely sunset cruise was organized.

Naj’s dress

Every bride is beautiful no doubt, but when it came to Naj’s bridal gown – it was a perfect fit. I could never imagine Naj wearing any other dress. The picture of the bride was reposted by the dress designer himself and instantly it had several hundreds of likes on Instagram.

The wedding day

The wedding started with the church ceremony, live piano accords made it very special and emotional, I must say. After the church guests were invited to theFour Seasons for group photos and cocktail hour smoothly transitioning into a dinner reception at the garden with the live music and toasts. The ambiance was dreamy and elegant. Plenty of candles, the sound from the piano and sea breeze.

After dinner, the party moved to the ballroom where the couple had their first dance and cut the cake. Needless to say there is no Nigerian wedding without traditional entrance in African attire & gele, with money throwing ceremony.  The way Naj & Alphonse styled and matched their outfits was exquisite. The pictures say it all.

We planned Naj & Alphonse’s wedding for over six months and throughout the process, we always had something to discuss over calls and messages. When the day arrived, I was excited and nervous at the same time. What if she doesn’t like something?

But when I saw Naj happy & smiling, it was a relief & sense of gratitude and accomplishment – we nailed it. Here is another dream and another fairytale of two people who believe in love.
