All The Wedding Trends we spotted at #NeverGettingMarried

From a custom merch store that had guests wowed to a fashion runway competition that stopped the whole reception, Fisayo Longe & Folabi Mosuru‘s celebrating of their love was not a wedding, it was a cultural moment. Here are the 10 trends we spotted at the #NeverGettingMarried wedding that we’ll be talking about all year.

The Hashtag

We’ve talked about wedding hashtags for a long time and shared how much we love it when couples create a wedding hashtag that’s unique to them and not just using the ‘Bride’s first name + Groom’s first name + Wedding Year’ formula’. #NeverGettingMarried as a wedding hashtag was a brilliant choice. For anyone who knows the backstory, you’ll get it and if you don’t get it, forget about it completely.

The Wedding Logo

Of course, there was a #NeverGettingMarried custom logo and it wasnโ€™t a logo that sat somewhere, everything was branded with the logo.

The #NeverGettingMarried Lagos Kiosk

The couple shared a video of their third look of the day. All their looks were absolutely stunning. What caught our attention was the Never Getting Married Lagos kiosk stocked with all items thatโ€™ll take you right back to childhood; bottled drinks, powdered milk in single portion sachets, cheese balls, and more.

The #NeverGettingMarried Wedding Merch Store

Move over, generic wedding favours and souvenirs. Fisayo and Folabi launched a full KAI #NeverGettingMarried merch store; snapbacks, tees, tote bags, exclusive pieces from KAI Collective’s range, all branded with the couple’s iconic hashtag and the KAI label. Guests weren’t just attendees; they were walking billboards of love. According to guest, @ruthyafolabi, guests got gift cards when they arrived and used these to claim items from the merch store. ‘honestly, you’ll be seeing me wearing my #NeverGettingMarried stuff in London soon’

Custom KAI Aso Ebi Fabric

Aso ebi has always been the soul of a Nigerian wedding, Fisayo and Folabi took it to an entirely new altitude by commissioning a fully bespoke KAI Collective fabric designed exclusively for the day. The result was a breathtaking signature textile that existed nowhere else on earth before now. One comment we spotted on Instagram by @theamazonibia said ‘Now that’s an asoebi with rewear value, cutesy, demure and chic.’

Custom fabrics with sustainability in mind are the next evolution of the aso ebi tradition, and we are completely here for it.

Everything Draped

The wedding decor screamed fabric, fabric, fabric and had almost everything draped in the gorgeous wedding colours. The wedding planner, Coker Creative shared โ€œWhen the theme is fabrics, fabrics, fabrics – you show up and you DRAPE. Every corner, every space within the venue was intentionally wrapped in texture, colour, and intention.โ€

The Fashion Runway Competition

This was the moment that stopped the entire reception. A curatedย fashion runway competitionย was announced mid-ceremony shortly after the couple made their second entrance. Guests who had gone above and beyond with their Ojude Oba themed looks were invited to walk the runway and contest for the ‘best outfit’ award. Eki Ogunbor was first to walk the runway.

In this moment, guests became runway models andย Tiwalola‘s aso-oke damask outfit won!

According to the bride, ‘We had a fashion show as I was truly most excited about seeing what everyone did with their custom @kaicollective aso ebi. Tiwa was first place, she won $500. This aso oke mixed in with the damask. A MASTERPIECE.’

What’s not to love; this ticked so many boxes for us but the biggest one was the interaction and engagement element with guests.

Their Wedding Cake

Fisayo & Folabi’s wedding cake was of course not your regular kind

You see me, you see my business

Everyone knows how passionate Fisayo is about her brand, KAI Collective and her wedding was another avenue to share this passion with her family and friends. We love how visible KAI was throughout the wedding. From the surprise bridal shower where the dress code was โ€œWear KAIโ€ to the engagement shoot which featured custom KAI Collective fabric patterns and the KAI Collective custom asoebi.

Fisayo and Folabi’s wedding is a reminder to think bigger, to personalise deeper, to honour moments that actually mean something to you as you celebrate your love with your family and friends.
