I am back oo, be like it’s every Saturday I dey see gbas gbos for weddings. Today’s own is a hot one sha, it happened at an after party, and it involves a bride and a groom’s ex fighting… omo shame wear me agbada
The after party is already going hard, everybody’s on the dance floor, the bride and groom were getting it on seriously and the DJ was giving us gbedu Wey Dey enter body 😂
Then the groom’s ex walks in a short pretty dress. She walked straight past half the room, right up to the groom, Debo, like she owned the building.
“Who is that,” my cousin Toke asked, nudging my arm and pointing with her lips, you know the way we do when we don’t want to be caught pointing with our fingers.
“No idea,” I said. “But she’s walking like she used to know him very well.”
She hugs him. A proper hug, arms all the way around, one second too long for comfort. And from where I’m sitting, holding my small chops like popcorn at this point, I watch the bride, Fisayo, turn her head at exactly the wrong moment. She catches the whole thing.
“Toke,” I said, already standing up. “Something is about to happen.”
“What do you mean something is—”
The screaming started before she could even finish that sentence.
I’ve been to a lot of wedding dramas. I’ve seen aunties argue over seat abi was it when a best man nearly fought a groomsman over a missing car key.
But I had never in my life seen anything like this. By the time Fisayo reached her, hair was already coming loose, and it stopped being a conversation almost immediately, wigs shifting, voices going up over the music, somebody’s earring flying off, never to be seen again.
“Ah ah, hold her now,” somebody shouted. Nobody actually moved at first, because everybody was too busy filming for their own personal archive.
Eventually the groom and some of his friends came and pulled the two women apart. The ex got walked out by two of them, like security removing someone from a club, except she was still shouting things over her shoulder the whole way out.
Everybody saw what transpired. There was no pretending nobody saw, everybody saw, phones were up, and for the next twenty minutes that dance floor was basically a boxing ring with two fighters.
I mean, it was a disaster and an embarrassment and I have some comments but I’ll keep my mouth shut. Although I want to ask two questions:
Do you think the bride should’ve faced the groom, the one who actually invited his ex, instead of going for the ex herself?
And did the bride and the ex have some kind of history before that night, something that had already been sitting there waiting for a reason to boil over hence making her out of character?
See you next Saturday.
Xoxo, ‘Dara
