Meraiah Ekeinde, one of the four kids Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde shares with her husband Captain Matthew Ekeinde, just announced her engagement, and the internet has been on a rave since.
She posted it on Instagram on Wednesday, August 12, with a caption that simply read “New chapter.” The video did all the talking. It opens with a sweeping drone shot flying over a beach at night, then cuts straight to her hand and a pear shaped diamond, shot in black and white.
Fans are latching on to the fact that she hid his face, and angled the camera away from him the whole time, at one point using her own hand to block him from the shot. It was clearly on purpose, and that only made people more curious, so the comments ended up with everyone going back and forth between congratulations and asking who this man is.
Her engagement is different for fans because of how private she’s always been. She’s 26, works in fashion and modelling, and mostly keeps to herself online, so when someone that private shares something this big, it lands harder for people who’ve watched her grow up in bits and pieces over the years.

Her mom, Omotola reposted it, her siblings reposted it, and within hours it turned into a whole family celebration playing out across everyone’s page at once. Although, there’s no wedding date yet, and no name for the fiancé. She’s keeping that part close for now, which is fair enough, but for a family that’s given us decades of Nollywood magic on screen, it’s nice seeing them get a moment like this off screen too.
