Akin Faminu and Kiky Festus have shown us that they are also doctors of fashion and style, not just in the medical field 😂.
We knew the fashion at their traditional wedding was going to be hot because their pre-wedding looks were too good, but we didn’t expect it to this degree. The temperature kept getting hotter and hotter every time they changed an outfit, and it was 4x hotter because they had four amazing looks, all styled by @thestyleinfidel and photographed by @bedgepictures. So, let’s go into the looks without further ado.

Okay so Kiky came out first and immediately we knew it was going to be a long night because this look had no business being this good. She wore a gold brocade mermaid gown by Emagine by Bukola, covered in ruby crystal beads, metallic detailing and sculptural draping that wraps around the body like something passed down from generations ago. The designer called it their interpretation of the Igbo maiden bride and that is exactly what it looks like, richly adorned, deeply feminine and completely regal.
Akin pulled up in a rich brown kimono by Deji and Kola, layered white and gold beaded chains stacked up high, a brown fila with a white feather and a white walking stick. He looked like he owned the land the ceremony was taking place on and knew it.
The earthy set with dried branches and stones in the background tied everything together so well. This was a very strong opening look and they both knew it.
Look 2
Makeup: @ariyike_mua | Hair: @adefunkeee | Bride’s Outfit: @prudential_atelier | Bride’s Styling: @thestyleinfidel | Bride’s Accessories: @thestyleinfidelstudios | Groom’s Outfit: @ugomonye.official | Gele: @taiwos_touch | Glasses: @cartier
When we say this look made people emotional, we are not exaggerating at all. Once you find out what went into it you will understand.
Kiky’s patchwork skirt by Prudential Gabriel is made from different Nigerian fabrics with their actual faces and their love story embroidered into the fabric, bead by bead. The designer said every section of the skirt tells a story of their love and ties back to Kiky’s culture. So when you look at that skirt, you are actually looking at their love story. She paired it with a beaded corset top with a red heart detail, a soft peach gele, a white diamond necklace, orange coral bracelet and held a beautiful fringed umbrella. This look is cultural storytelling and we could feel it.
Akin came through in a white traditional top with a red cap on his chest by Ugomonye Official, layered white and orange coral beads, a red and green Igbo traditional wrapper, his red cap and gold accessories.
Look 3

Just when we thought they had peaked, look three walked in and said hold on.
Kiky came out in a deep purple fitted gown by Nicole Stylish with bold turquoise and orange swirl patterns running through the whole dress. The long sleeves had “Nkiruka” embroidered on the cuff which is such a personal touch, her gele matched the purple perfectly, and a blue sapphire crystal necklace and statement earrings finished everything off. The purple backdrop with dried branches behind her made the whole thing look like a fashion campaign, not a wedding look. It was that good.
Then Akin walked in wearing a deep purple agbada by Deji and Kola with an orange embroidered chest piece. He layered his outfit with orange coral beads, purple cap, sunglasses and a white walking stick.
Look 4
Makeup: @ariyike_mua | Hair: @adefunkeee | Bride’s Outfit: @emagine by bukola | Bride’s Shoes: @christianlouboutin | Bride’s Earrings: @versace | Bride’s Nails: @naildbydola | Groom’s Outfit: @dejiandkola | Groom’s Shades: @cartier
Emagine by Bukola asked what happens when the pages of Vogue leave the magazine and become the actual garment and she answered that question by making a Vogue inspired corset mini dress for Kiky with collaged editorial imagery built right into the outfit, Rihanna, Zendaya and some of the most iconic faces to ever grace the magazine’s pages, all on her body. She paired it with a newspaper print ruched mini skirt, Christian Louboutin heels, Versace earrings and a sleek long ponytail, this is a bride who kept the most unexpected look for last and served it effortlessly.
Akin pulled up in a bold multicoloured printed open shirt by Deji and Kola, dark high waisted wide leg jeans, white boots and sunglasses. The two of them together against that deep blue backdrop looked like they were heading somewhere none of us were invited.
Congratulations to Dr Akin Faminu and Dr Kiky Festus on their traditional wedding. We are so happy for you both and we cannot wait to see what the white wedding brings.
