Olawunmi and Adeola of Freeze Photography got married recently. The couple shared their lovely story and pictures with us. Enjoy!!!
How We Met
God gave me Adeola!!! Adeola and I working same unit in church, he teaches the 3 year old’s while I teach the 4 year old’s. Each time I go in for my duty, I always stop by his class to say hello to two of my friends in his class.
Some months after I noticed him, I asked my friend “who is that slim uncle in your class” She smiled and said he’s our very nice uncle. In my mind I went like ” the guy is sooooo slim sha!
Fast forward my friend in his class was preparing for her introduction and we thought of giving her a gift, I wanted to get a cake but my other friend insisted on pictures…. she said she can discuss with her very nice uncle Adeola (who is a professional photographer) to come and document our friend’s event. Initially, I was against the picture thing because I felt our friend must have gotten someone. However, she was persistent on talking to her very nice Uncle Adeola so I agreed and we were waiting for the bill.
Alas! When we got the bill, I screamed! I was like you didn’t tell him it’s just the introduction and we don’t want him to bring all his equipment (lol). So I asked for his number to negotiate.
( Stop… Rewind)
I’ve been praying for my husband for many years, God gave me some strict instructions, which I followed. Some days later I had a dream, saw a name which I couldn’t pronounce well and a stature that I didn’t like, God gave me a clear word- That’s your Husband.
After I received his number it took me some days to call because I had to be sure about the strategy on how to negotiate.
So I finally called, immediately he heard my voice he mentioned my name, I was shocked because that was the first time we ever spoke on the phone. I didn’t want to waste that great moment I went fast into negotiation. I hadn’t said much or gone into my negation plans when he asked me to send the details of the address and that he would shoot for FREE. I was like whaaaaaat! That was questioning, but I was extremely happy. We exchanged BB pins, when his request came in and I saw his full name, I didn’t believe my eyes, thought it was another dream. Our chat that day was not smooth, I went back to God, I cried…. I never wanted a slim guy (laughs). We became great friends so fast and his passion for children is amazing. Some months later he asked me out and we started dating. He proposed to me on the 31st of December in church after watch night service. I was caught unawares; the surprise was too much for me, I wouldn’t have thought about a proposal in a church of thousands. Of course I said Yes.

Proposal
It was a hard one to pull off because she is someone that can get really suspicious when something is fishy so I had to be really careful with my plans.
After thinking of a lot of ways to propose, I finally came to a conclusion that I was going to tell one of her friend to invite us for dinner at a restaurant where I planned to ask the question consisting of four amazing words – ‘will you marry me’. I was going to get 4 of my friends to wear a t-shirt with each of the words written on them and mine will have the question mark on it.
I had this planned in my head for a long time until one day when she sent me a picture of someone who did the exact same thing and said she liked it, I was amazed and thought for a while that how in heavens name will someone have thought of doing what was in my head. And not just that, the fact that she sent the picture to me was another thing that amazed me. So I had to change my plans again and this time, it came quicker than the first one maybe because the date I wanted to do the proposal was fast approaching.
This time around, it was different because it was something I was used to – ‘dancing’
Yes that’s right I dance and I’ve been dancing for over 8 years now. I started dancing in church and gradually grew to the stage of even being the coordinator of the dance group in my church, a position I still hold.
So I thought of doing a little dance presentation before the proposal because she has always asked me to dance for her but I can be very shy when someone asks me to dance for them. I only feel comfortable dancing during rehearsals and during dance presentations so I never danced for her all this while and I thought doing a dance before the proposal will fly so I shared the idea with the dance group and they liked and bought into the idea.
After much rehearsals and planning, I came to the conclusion that proposing on the 31st of December 2013 right after our watch night service in church was the perfect plan because we happen to attend the same church. I wanted her to wake up into the new year and have a good feeling about herself that she was engaged. So I gave her no chance to be suspicious about anything it was well planned between my friends, her friends and my the dance crew.
Just after the service was over in church, everyone was waiting for both of us outside the main church auditorium somewhere within the church premises where they were preparing the dance floor and I was just waiting for my friend’s call to tell me they were ready for us so I can bring her there. After waiting a while and delaying her a little, I got the call from my friend to start coming there and when she got there and saw so many people, she was a bit confused. I could see it in her eyes and I became scared that she was going to know something wasn’t right but I didn’t mind so I kept on acting.
Then I said hello to a few of my friends and my dance team and she was siting right where we wanted her to sit and suddenly my friend played the music ‘One in a million by Neyo’ and the performance started. It was short and well delivered, thanks to my dance crew and all the while we were dancing right in front of her she was still trying to figure out what was going on.
Right after the dance performance, I had the ring in my jacket which I brought out knelt down and pointed the ring at her and did the proposal and she said ‘YES’ and accepted the ring from that moment I became the happiest man on the earth till date.
