Remember Ebere, the bride who stunned us all in her beautiful wedding gown designed by Brides by NoNa. Ebere Alozie and Raphael Nwojo‘s love story is a tale of love, happiness, respect, compassion, commitment all entwined and guided by the love of Christ. The couple met after an introduction by a friend who played ‘cupid’. Read their love story and see pictures from their pre-wedding shoot below.
How we met
Who would have thought, that the meeting of two complete strangers at work, would unfold into such an amazing love story that included yet another stranger to both of them? It’s a case of divine love, and indeed Ralph and I met through divine intervention and divine connection.
Dr. Nwojo walked into the physicians’ lounge on what seemed to be an ordinary work day. Unbeknownst to him, it would turn out to be one of the most wonderful and beautiful periods in his life. The foundation of what was yet to come.
Ralph noticed the name badge of another physician who was working locum at the hospital and noticing that the name was Nigerian immediately walked over to her. A conversation ensued and he soon realized, that not only were they from the same country but they were from the same tribe and they also had mutual acquaintances.
This chance encounter evolved into a great friendship and having found out that he was single, his newly found friend decided to play matchmaker. After many failed attempts she decided to enlist the help of one of her friends. Ebere was one of the friends that was referred and what occurred next was a tale of love, happiness, respect, compassion, commitment all entwined and guided by the love of Christ.
We have been together since we were introduced and we look forward to a lifetime together.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9 NASB
Our Proposal Story
In August, I felt an overwhelming need to plan something memorable for my birthday, so I organized a special dinner. Since my twin sister & her husband could not be around, I really wanted to be surrounded by close friends. I worked as a consultant so my boyfriend came up to spend my birthday with me.
When I picked him up from the airport, he seemed different, much more loving. I was excited by this; it felt as if a lightbulb had gone off in his head. I was puzzled and wanted to figure out what was up his sleeves if anything but instead decided to bask in the feeling and enjoy his presence.
On the morning of my birthday, I had a very early hair appointment. I wanted to look spectacular for my celebration dinner. Ralph woke up before me which was normal. He wished me a happy birthday with so much affection. He tried to convince me to cancel my appointment & reassured me that my hair looked fine. I was insistent on going, therefore, I got up & started to prepare.
As I was about to leave, Ralph called me and gave me a bag; he was filled with so much love and adoration, I felt very special. I dug into the bag and was happy to see a teddy bear. On our first Valentine’s Day, (two years before) he had gotten his three-year-old niece a teddy bear, which I mistakenly thought was mine. He told me that he was under the impression that only children get teddy bears. He quickly discovered that he had been wrong as I told anyone that would listen to me & they all corrected him.
Since that day I patiently waited for my own teddy bear.
I was still recovering from his thoughtfulness when I noticed that there was more in the bag. I thought to myself that there was no way this man got me chocolates as well, it just was not his nature to gift sweets. I pulled out a brown box but was even more puzzled. I looked at him while opening the brown box & he was looking at me. I opened it & saw a ring. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting a proposal so I looked at him confused & said, “it’s a beautiful ring”. He then said, “well will you?” I was still just staring at him & he said again, “will you marry me?” I then came to my senses & started jumping up and down in utter joy. “Yes, yes, yes, yes” I repeated.
My birthday exceeded all my expectations, I knew I wanted it to be special but I had no idea I would have ended up being engaged to the best man I have ever known. He managed to surprise me and I was very elated.
So my birthday dinner ended up being both a birthday dinner & an engagement dinner. Such a major celebration.
He gave me the proposal that was just right for me, I would not have had it any other way.
